Q: What will I get out of the course?

You will get a fantastic insight into how commercial radio works, in a non-academic, practical and vibrant atmosphere. In addition, you will have gained valuable skills and met a group of like-minded students and radio staff including presenters

Q: Which course is best for me, the Academy or the Masterclass?

The Academy is suited to anyone who wants a general grounding in radio. It aims to explore all areas of commercial radio from behind the scenes, to on-air studio work. You will need to be prepared to work well in groups, be confident, delegate responsibilities and be committed to turning up for every session even if it means missing the latest Alfie and Kat story-line in Eastenders! The age group for the Academy is 15 - 24 year olds.

It is not the ideal course if you just want to focus on just one aspect of the industry, for example, presenting. If you want a demo CD to send off to other radio stations, you could choose the one-day Presenter Masterclass which offers an in-depth look into how to write, research and record a demo CD. The age group for the Masterclass is 15 - 35 year olds. If you are still unsure, just call!

Q: Do I need any radio experience to apply?

No, all we ask is that you attend every session with enthusiasm and dedication.
AND complete your homework!

Q: Will I get a job at the end of it?

Not necessarily, but the course will give you an advantage over other young people desperately trying to break into the tough world of radio. Many graduates have gone on to get jobs at stations around the country; others have gone on to full-time broadcasting and media courses at college.

Don't forget, you will be taught by people already working in the business, who are always looking out for new talent.

Q: What feedback have you had about the course?

"The Academy offers an invaluable opportunity for young people to gain an insight into the workings of the industry - warts and all. Their new skills will help to improve the operating standards in the industry overall"
- Don Thomson, Chrysalis Radio Commercial Director

"Not only was the academy brilliant fun, it also gave me a fantastic idea of how broadcasting works. Before I took part I wasn't sure if radio was right for me but now, thanks to The Academy, I'm well on my way to my dream job!"
- Natalie, Cardiff

"There's plenty of talk that creativity in the radio industry is dying. Absolute rubbish. I wholeheartedly believe that the future broadcaster are out there, you've just got to find them, help them, nurture them and train them.

The Mediafly Academy is a great example of this. A course designed by radio professionals, run by radio professionals. Teaching you the things that actually happen within a live working environment alongside the theory behind the decisions.

It's also a wonderful opportunity for me to keep an eye on the potential talent that lies out there, the course has led to several people getting further employment within Galaxy and it's great for us to be able to see the skills that people have and their ability to learn"
- Mike Cass, Galaxy 105 Programme Director

"A great insight into the business and how to get involved, I would recommend it to anyone interested in getting into radio"
- Chris, Leeds

"I've learnt more in the last three weeks than I have on my three year media degree course!"
- Sam, Manchester

"Fantastic! What an adrenalin session!"
- Chris, Midlands

"Very useful and informative, I hope my demo will get me a job at a radio station soon"
- Lisa, Leeds
